random thoughts part II

Another Tuesday where my brain will not allow for well-formed paragraphs, but I do have alot of random bouncing around up there so here goes...

1. Is it just me or does Dylan look like a freshman in college in his 6th grade pic? Did I mention he is 5-3 now? And eats non-stop.

2. And is it just me, or does he look just like his Daddy? I see Chris all over his face, with a smear of me across his eyes (and ears...) :)

3. Why is it so awkward on elevators? Am I the only one that feels awkward, or does everyone feel like the silence is sooooo awkward? Weird social situation...

4. A pharmacy school rant since that is consuming my life right now....Quick, what happens when you give a 17 month old too much DDAVP (desmopressin)? What should we monitor? What is the half life of the drug? When will it be completely out of his body? Yes these were questions I got a few days ago from the attending Fellow MD on the Pulmonary unit. All eyes on ME. Not because they were testing me, but because NO ONE knew the answer, and a little boy depended on my fast answers. STAT! Stressful!

5.  So it is no secret that my husband has baby fever, he would love another SET! Yes, I said SET. [[[Insert pic of my looking CRAZY here ]]] Suddenly everyone is pregnant. EVERYONE! Congrats to you guys, if you are reading [[[insert sweet, sincere smile here]]]. But honestly, I am starting to feel like there is a conspiracy going on. How can I talk my husband out of baby fever with all this good news going on?!

6. 3 days left of Pediatric Pulmonology....

7. Tomorrow I have a 45 minute presentation on Tourette Syndrome. Random, but soooo interesting!

8.  Karsen is going to be a vampire for Halloween. Dylan is not dressing up this year for the first time ever. He said he is too old. : ( So, instead he will be staying home and scaring the beegeezus out of kids that come to our house for candy. LOL He is so excited!

9.  We had a delicious fire in the wood-burning fireplace the other night. I loved it.

10.  Karsen starts gymnastics tonight here in OH, finally. She is so excited!

11. Panera's "soup for a group" rocks, especially the French Onion...and don't get me started about their bread. YUM. I have been eating non-stop this month, I blame stress. And the fact we live 1.1 miles from a Krispy Kreme. D'oh!

12.  I miss my family and friends and can't wait to go home to NC for Thanksgiving!

Next week I will try to do random thoughts that have absolutely nothing to do with food, but I can't make any promises! Ha!

random thoughts....

"Hey!"

Sleep deprivation brings out the random in me, so here are a slew of random thoughts.
  1. I am starting to worry about not finding a job in May. Little premature? Worry-wart, much?!
  2. I love hospital clinical pharmacy....should I do a residency, I am torn?
  3. I have learned to never listen to other people's opinions, form your own.
  4. I know more than I ever wanted to know about Wegener's Granulomatosis.
  5. Cystic fibrosis needs a cure. Like, now.
  6. I can't believe my baby will be turning 9 next month. When did her legs get so long?
  7. and on that same thought, were my legs ever that pretty? Ha!
  8. Dylan is in-between....getting older, taller,  but still so much still a litte boy....just with a cellphone and a mustache growing in now. Yes, it is blowing my mind.
  9. On that same thought, when did our children grow up? It is hitting me that they are so far from babies, and so close to becoming teens. OMG.
  10. When is Chris going to stop having baby fever? Seriously, it comes up about 15 times a week. No pun intended.
  11. I really stink at taking my birth control pill. I am the worst patient ever. Oh, the irony.
  12. I really love our house, it gives me chill bumps to think about how everything worked out so that we got this house. We thought our plans "were falling through" when we lost the other house, but we were actually about to be blessed. Now, I see that. :)
  13. I am so lucky to be married to a good man. I wonder what I did in my past life to deserve him, really?
  14. I love my little nephew, Kyland, so much. He visited this past weekend, and I wanted to keep him.
  15. Does riding the elevators at the hospital count as exercise?
  16. I have drank enough coffee the last 4 months to kill a small child. Or at least make them really hyper.
  17. I got off at 4pm today, and I almost don't know what to do with myself. I got to see the sunshine!
  18. Should I start doing yoga? Do you do yoga? Do you like it? Do I have to wear those tight pants in order to yoga? Yes, that matters, and I will factor it in my ultimate decision. Will it relax me? I am feeling a little high-strung. Ya think?
  19. I had a donut for breakfast. Yes, I had to confess. The guilt is heavy.
  20. I have missed my blog. I had to come here and say hey! Even if I was completely random! :)

My kinda medicine

It's true.
Chocolate milkshakes make everything better.
And I had a big dose of one today.
With whipped cream too.
Feeling a little less fatigued.
Heading into week #3 of 4 of pediatric pulmonology.
I think I can, I think I can...
p.s. I am officially 1/2 way done with my P4 rotations!

Status: Exhausted

Sorry I have been MIA. This working 60+ hours a week on rotation is not for me. I am enjoying the challenge of learning something new everyday, but it is definitely a challenging trying to balance it all. I am sleep-deprived, overwhelmed, and running on E. Will be back soon with updates.

rome wasn't built in a day, but this was

Chris and the kids spent the afternoon putting together something for our backyard! Can you guess what it is? I was so excited when Chris came home with it, and I know we will enjoy it for many nights to come. I will share more pictures of the building process soon and tell you all about it!

Another month, another rotation

October: Rotation #5 Pediatric Pulmonology
Day before Pharmacy school started, Aug 2007
I am about to start another rotation; one step closer to the ultimate goal, right?! Please pray that this month goes wonderfully. I received an intimidating email from my preceptor (boss) for the month, and she basically scared me to death.

I am a little anxious about my first rotation here in Columbus. It is at a HUGE, downtown (read=dangerous area) Children's Hospital. I will have to get there before dark, ride a shuttle from the student's parking lot 1.2 miles away from the hospital to get there by 6:45am. Yes, I will have mace.

I am praying that the month is mentally stimulating and interesting, that my preceptor does not have an EGO the size a mountain, and that she has realistic expectations for the month. Also, it would be great if she lets us eat. It would also be nice if the other pharmacy students are nice. I will be the "new" girl (with the "accent")! Never fun. The first day of any rotation is always slightly scary even when you know the other students!

So, today begins another month of another rotation. I'm almost to the half-way point of my last year of pharmacy school~I can't wait until May 2011... when I can say I am done with school! Oh, happy day.

Then, I will hopefully have a job lined up and will be able to say instead:
another month day, another rotation $ dollar $. Ha!  Isn't that a rap song lyric? Hmmm...

Here goes nothing~Day #1!
