My love affair.....

.....with BOOKS!
Recently, my sister posted a link to BBC's 100 best books of all times. She and I have both been avid readers since forever....so I was happy to see the list and interested to see which ones I have read and which ones I could possibly get my hands on this week (MY spring break!!)....I had read ~31....not too shabby, especially since I have not been able to read quite as much since my B.C. years (before children). LOL~

I do have a couple that she wants me to read ASAP. Ayn Rand's, "Fountainhead" is on her list of MUST READs to complete my life. I would love to re-read some old favorites..(Have I mentioned I am a creature of habit?)....like "The Count of Monte Christo", "Tully" (of course), and maybe "Madame Bovary" one more time. That book is after all one of the main reasons I decided to pursue the profession of Apothecary....uh-hmmm...Pharmacist, I mean. Oh, and we can not forget about "Wuthering Heights"...who could possibly forget Heathcliff? NEVER~ He is the first dark character, man, I fell in love with. All of these books are like old loves, deep loves, that once they ended I was so saddened.....so they are so worthy of a re-read ever so often.

I am happy to say that my love of reading has transpired to my children. My Sun loves to read...all those boy books...and My Flower has become interested in reading as well. She is a big fan of the Junie B Jones series right now. I recently bought "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" for My Sun....hoping he will read them and get lost in those adventures like I did when I was about 8 years old. I can not wait for My Flower to start reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, Beverly Cleary, and the many other books that I immersed myself in while I was growing up. A fun day for us is a trip to the bookstore/library, and they truly enjoying searching for and finding many treasures that they can bring home with them.

My Rock is even reading. He read the Twilight series before I did! Due to my obligations to school-work, I could not read some of the books when I wanted to...I had to wait, but we have since read all 4 of the books and loved them.

Reading was my first love.....and they say you never forget your first love. It is true. I have one week to re-visit some of those first loves and discover some new ones. I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and just ordered a new book, Beth Moore's, "Esther-It's Tough Being a Woman"......this book called to me, as I kept seeing it on several of my favorite blogs, and I heard good things in all aspects. It is a bible-based book that I feel like I need to read right now. I know as a wife, mother, student, etc....that I feel like there are demands all around. I am very excited about reading what I believe is a timely and relevent book for this time in my life. Amazon can not ship it fast enough. :)
I will let you know what I think about it....

I want to close with a bible verse that I read this morning on Beth Moore's blog.... that really spoke to me.
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded, YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV
I need this week off of school. I need to rest, relax, renew....you know all the things that Moms forget to do...we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves along with taking care of everyone else. I need to take care of me. I need to rebuild my confidence, count my abundant blessings, and know that I am on this road for a reason. I must persevere.....and I will make it though. My books will help me.....
